YOUTH PROGRAM!!!
Risebridge is running an Urban Indigenous Youth Program on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This program is open to all indigenous youth ages 13-17 and we especially encourage those w/ mixed ancestry, those identifying as 2SLGBTQIA+ and those living off reserve to attend!
Dinner will be provided along w/ a chill and welcoming environment featuring game nights, arts & crafts, cultural connection, homework labs, and various other activies.

The course is provided by Raven Trust, a non-profit organization which fundraises to support First Nations who are fighting rights and title cases.  The course has ten modules. Each module has a ten minute video, a series of editorial cartoons, some light reading, and an individual reflection activity. The format of the course means that it’s easy to go through and browse sections of interest if that’s your preferred learning mode. The course covers some key concepts in the Land Back movement, including: unceded, sovereignty, UNDRIP, terra nullius, and stewardship of parks. The course was developed by a number of influential First Nations scholars and advocates including:Glen Coulthard (Yellowknives Dene) -  author of Red Skins, White Masks, Terri Lynn Williams Davidson (Haida) - lawyer who was an intervenor for Taan vs. United Steel Workers Local 1-1937, also an artist who did a great photography series Female Supernatural Beings of Haida Gwaii Kukpi7,  Judy Wilson (Secwepemc) - who is on the executive of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. The host of the course is Ryan McMahon (Anishinaabe) who is a comedian and media personality.       

The course is free. Registration is required, but it’s a quick and easy process to register.

In-person labyrinth walks.     Brechin 4 ACTION will be having in-person labyrinth walks on Mondays 12:30 - 2:00 pm from Feb. 12 to Mar. 18.  Someone will have to let you into the building so please use the side door on the left side as you face the building so we can see you.  Free – donations accepted.  For more information contact Anne Nesbitt – 250-585-7442. Reconciliation: Building Relationships - a response to the calls to action & learning how to be allies

This workshop held Friday evening March 8th & all day Saturday March 9th, held at Brechin was wonderful! The planning committee ("dream team") consisted of reps from United Way BC. Hope Lutheran, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Brechin UC.   The Evaluation questionnaire for those who attended,  is posted in the coming and current events section earlier.
